Kid’s Fishing Derby Saturday

The Derby Recreation Commission’s Kid’s Fishing Derby will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. this Saturday at Warren’s Farm. The free event, for kids ages 5 to 16, offers fishing, tattoos and a hot dog roast.

Get ready for another great day outside at the lake. 

The Derby Recreation Commission’s (DRC)  annual Kid’s Fishing Derby will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 26 at Warren’s Farm. 

This annual event offers fishing, temporary tattoos, and the ever popular hotdog roast.  The event is free for kids ages 5-16 and is sponsored by the Derby Optimist Club, Derby Wal-Mart and Warren Family Farm.

Kids can bring their own poles and tackle, but it is not required.  Additional poles and tackle are available for use, provided by the DRC and Optimist Club. 

Volunteers from Aviator Church, the DRC and Optimists will also be on hand to help novice fishers.

 Prizes are awarded in four different categories to celebrate young fishers of all abilities. 

Pre-register at the Derby Recreation Center or the day of the event.  

Warren’s Farm is located approximately a half mile east of Rock Road on 95th Street South on the south side of the road.
