DMS broken into, food stolen

Derby police are currently investigating a burglary that happened over the weekend at Derby Middle School (DMS).

According to Derby Police Lt. Tim Brant, Derby police received a report just before 5 a.m. on Monday from a bread delivery man, who had arrived at the middle school to find that food had been stolen from the cafeteria.

“There was forced entry into the building and a number of food items were taken,” Brant said.

The burglary occurred sometime overnight.

According to Brant, the food was there Friday afternoon when school officials locked up the building for the weekend.

The missing food was discovered Monday morning.
