Derby, Kan. -

Derby City Council member Chuck Warren announced that he will resign from the council effective Aug. 22.

His decision to resign was due to his change of residence in Ward II at 1113 Fontenelle to his new residence in Ward III at 606 N Briarwood.

He is no longer eligible to represent Ward II since he no longer lives in the ward.

Because a Ward III seat on the council is currently vacant following the Aug. 13 resignation of Charlie Schwarz, Warren has submitted an application to Derby Mayor Dion Avello to be nominated by the mayor for appointment to fill the remaining seven months of that term.

“I still desire to serve the city of Derby,” Warren said. “I believe I have served the city faithfully since being elected in 1999, and there are still many challenges in the future that I believe I can make a positive contribution to.”

Warren has served on the council since 1999, having been re-elected in April 2007. He is a real
estate broker/manager at Plaza Real Estate in Derby. He is active in the Derby Rotary Club and
previously served on the Derby Park Board.

Avello is accepting applications for the Ward II position through Sept. 12. Those interested may pick up an application at Derby City Hall, located at 611 Mulberry Rd., or download a Ward II application online at www.derbyweb.com/government/city-council.cfm. Applications should be returned to Carolyn Morrison at City Hall. Please contact Morrison with questions at 788-3132 or via email at carolynmorrison@derbyweb.com
